General Therapy FAQ
I do not directly accept insurance, but many clients successfully receive reimbursement through their out-of-network benefits. I am more than happy to supply the necessary invoices and Superbills required for you to seek reimbursement from your insurance company.
Pro-Tip: When calling your insurance, ask: "Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits? If so, what is my deductible and at what rate do you reimburse for code 90834?"
My fees are structured to accommodate different scheduling needs:
Regular Hours (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM): $100 per session.
After Hours (5:00 PM – 7:00 PM): $150 per session.
Standard sessions are 45 minutes. The total duration of therapy is a co-creative process that depends entirely on your unique needs, goals, and the pace that works best for you.
Yes! Virtual sessions are available on a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform through Psychology Today, allowing us to meet from the comfort of your own space while ensuring your privacy is fully protected.
The office is located at 8588 Starkey Road, Seminole, FL 33777, inside Life Adventures Counseling and Consulting. The office serves clients throughout Pinellas County and the surrounding Tampa Bay area.
That is a fair and common question, and part of what the free 30-minute consultation is designed to figure out. It might be one specific mode, a combination of approaches, or a focus that shifts over time as we work through different layers of your journey.
Yes! Every new client starts with a free 30-minute consultation before committing to anything. This is an opportunity to get a sense of each other, talk through what you are looking for, and determine whether we are a good fit. It is also a great time to figure out which format of therapy, individual, couples, or family, makes the most sense for your situation.
Please come with any and all questions and concerns you might have. There is nothing you need to bring and nothing you need to prepare. Come as you are. The first session is a relaxed, conversational introduction to the work we will do together. If there are specific things you want to make sure we cover, jotting down a few notes beforehand can be helpful, but it is never required. The only thing that matters is that you show up.
I ask that you provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice will be charged the full session fee. I understand that life happens, and I handle these situations with flexibility and good faith whenever possible.
For adventure or walk and talk sessions, we can generally meet at any public space within a 15-minute drive of the office. If there are specific parks, trails, or coastal spots you have in mind, feel free to mention them during our consultation and we can discuss the logistics of meeting there. I am a Project Member of Life Adventures, an umbrella counseling business that provides a shared professional office space and specialized resources for adventure and experiential therapy. While I operate my own practice, being part of this collective allows me to offer unique therapeutic environments for my clients.
Dual licensure means holding two distinct state-issued clinical licenses rather than one. I hold both the LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor) and LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) licenses. In practice, this means I am specifically trained to treat not just individuals, but couples and family systems as well. Most therapists hold one license and will refer out for the other, or may attempt to expand beyond their training. Dual licensure means you have access to a clinician who can fluidly work across individual, relational, and systemic levels.
